Chicago…

Weather; 6 tics above ice cubes. Stayed in the lower degrees for the remainder of the weekend, but tolerable. First hint of Chicago city air had Tony Sly's voice on it from the bar above the train station. I love this city.

Food; unreal, envy-inducing. $20/entree price points at eateries that in DC would go for 3x. I think I ate an entire pig. The Publican, The Bristol, Frontera Grill.

  • The Publican; left side all seafood, right side all meat, back side all beer. Heaven. Asleep before midnight, nuff said.
  • The Bristol; gastropub on crack. Fresh pastas, rich & decadent... cocktail menu, try them all. Open-faced pig trotter sandwich.
  • Frontera Grill; ruined Mexican food for me. Literally, licked my plate clean. NotĀ embarrassed.

City; get lost here, immediately. The best thing you can do in Chicago is walk. Get away from Michigan Ave stat. Bucktown, Lincoln Park... gems on every block. Reckless Records, Intelligentsia, Argo Tea, Bobtail, Hot Dougs... if you happen by one of these in your travels, stop by and get mad they aren't in your city.

Til next time...
